While many locals set their Thanksgiving Day alarm in time to put the turkey in the oven, a growing number are instead putting on their running shoes.
Thanksgiving Day has become the most popular running day in America, and when it comes to running locally, the 30A 10K race in Rosemary Beach is the place to be. Now in its 11th year, the race is expected to sell out early so don’t wait to register! See www.30a10k.com for more information and registration.
This race isn’t just about burning calories and having fun with the family, it’s about giving back to the local community. All proceeds raised are donated to local charities. To date, the race series has donated more than $650,000 to local nonprofits.
“The joy of this race is that there are distances and events for everyone in the family, from the competitive runner to grandparents and kids that walk the 1 mile fun run, as well as what our event is able to do for so many in need in our area,” said Race Director Karen Meadows.
The event’s 2022 charity partners include: Caring and Sharing of South Walton, the Walton County Education Foundation, the Seaside School Foundation, and Guardian ad Litem of Northwest Florida. The race organization selects different charity partners each year.
Packet pick up takes place at The Hub on 30A from 11am-7 pm on Wednesday Nov. 23 and the race series takes place in Rosemary Beach starting at 7:30 am on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. County Highway 30A will be closed to traffic from 7-10:30 am on Thanksgiving morning from Rosemary Beach to the Watersound neighborhood entrance.
Runners can look forward to not only a great race course that travels past some of South Walton’s scenic architecture and dune lakes, but all participants receive a commemorative super soft race shirt and iconic medal. What’s more, the finish line features a free post-race breakfast for participants as well as a complimentary Mimosa and Bloody Mary tent.
Recognized as one of the top 10 Thanksgiving Day races in America by Southern Living, this is one local event that you will not want to miss. Hurry and register today before it sells out! Contact Race Director, Karen Meadows and Race Co-Director Amy Stoyles at 850-5020-0457.
