Community members are invited to participate in a unique Lunch and Learn seminar opportunity titled “Arthritis: What it is and what we can do about it” on Friday, Mar. 17 at 12:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express in Crestview. The event will be hosted by Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
Dr. William Markowski, a board certified orthopedic surgeon with Bluewater Orthopedics, specializes in joint replacement; hip, knee and shoulder arthroscopy; sports medicine; direct anterior hip replacement; hand surgery and fracture care.
Dr. Markowski will present on the topic of arthritis and discuss advancements in adult reconstruction. After non-surgical treatments for arthritis have been exhausted, hip replacements can be very beneficial to ease pain. Dr. Markowski will discuss diagnosis and treatment options for degenerative or inflammatory bone disease and the benefits of minimally invasive, direct anterior hip replacement. This procedure has gained widespread popularity because of the proven accelerated recovery time for patients. Through the use of a special table, called the Hana table, physicians can maneuver the hip joint and leg into a more secure position.
After the seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss areas of concern and ask specific questions.
The free community-education seminar will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Conference Room, 125 Cracker Barrel Rd., Crestview, FL 32536 (just South of I-10). Call (850) 278-3600 to register. Lunch will be provided, and space is limited.
