The City of DeFuniak Springs held a groundbreaking ceremony at the DeFuniak Springs Municipal Airport on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Airport terminal located at 1931 U.S. Highway 90 West, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Florida Senator George B. Gainer and Representative Brad Drake are expected to attend and give remarks.
The $6.9 million project will build a new terminal and expand the runway. The project is expected to be completed within 20 months, excluding supply chain delays. The DeFuniak Springs Municipal Airport is a community airport that serves general and corporate aviation. Our mission is to be the premier general aviation airport on the Emerald Coast and the gateway airport to the beaches of South Walton.
“The airport terminal project has been a labor of love for several years. The pandemic and economic climate have certainly posed challenges; however, we’re extremely pleased to announce construction will begin on this hallmark facility,” said Airport Director Dan Edwards.
