FRIDAYS WITH FRIENDS – October 14th and 28th from 10 AM – Noon

Each “Fridays with Friends” program will be open from 10 AM until noon.  Coastal Seniors will welcome members, who are 50 years and older, to our office to participate in activities, such as: card games, board games, ping pong, bingo, art classes, exercise classes, etc. If you are interested in any of these activities, please let us know so that our volunteers can prepare. On October 14th Coastal Seniors and United Way Emerald Coast are partnering to build kits to be distributed to children in need in our community. The kits will consist of either food/snack items or literacy items (books, flashcards, etc.). EXERCISE CLASSES FOR SENIORS at Padgett Park on J.D. Miller Rd. – Barbara Reynolds will teach Zumba Gold at 10:00 am on Wednesdays beginning October 12th, Gentle Yoga at 11:00 am on Wednesdays beginning October 12th, and Senior Pilates on Fridays at 10:00 am beginning October 14th.  Cost is $40 per 8-week session. MONTHLY MEETING – WEST FLORIDA AHEC PROGRAMS FOR HEALTHY LIVING – Friday, October 21st from 11:00 AM – 1 PM (Light lunch provided).  Kristil Knox, West Florida AHEC will return to talk about programs available including Tai Chi for Arthritis, Diabetes Education, Power Tools for Caregivers, Living Healthy, and A Matter of Balance.  Joyce Hankins, from Watercrest Assisted Living Facility will provide lunch and speak about services offered by Watercrest.  If you have any questions contact Sonia at 850-280-5342 or message her at: coastalseniorsofsouthwalton@gmail.com.

ART CLASSES – Karen Peterson will teach seniors Beginner Watercolor Painting on every Friday for four weeks scheduled to begin on October 28th from 9:00 am – Noon. Cost is $20 per session. Sign up by calling 850-280-5342, or by sending an email to: coastalseniorsofsouthwalton@gmail.com.  A glass art class is scheduled at The Shard Shop in Grayton Beach on November 2nd at 11:00 am.

PICKLEBALL – Beginner Pickleball 101 at Walton Sports Complex courts – Wednesdays, October 19th and October 26th from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM.  Space is limited.  CSSW Members please contact Sandy at sowalpickleball@gmail.com to register. The new public pickleball courts are now open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Walton County sports complex behind Dune Lakes Elementary School.  Please join the SoWal Pickleball Association on Facebook for more information and weekly updates.

COASTAL SENIORS BOOK CLUBThe second Wednesday of each month – October 12th at Noon.  Join the Coastal Seniors of South Walton (CSSW) at The Bay Restaurant to discuss books you’ve enjoyed by participating in the book club once a month.  You choose your own book – there will be no assigned books for all to read.  Each participant will have up to 5 minutes to share the book they read and their thoughts about it.

Seniors 50 years of age and up residing in or visiting Walton County are invited to join CSSW. Membership is $20 for individuals, $30 for family, and $50 for businesses (your business will be listed on our home webpage and our Facebook page).
