Guided Bird Watching

Morrislake

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and the Choctawhatchee Audubon Society on September 12, 2018 from 8:15a.m. – 10:15a.m. for a guided bird walk.  Learn about the birds you are seeing in the park along the trails.  Don’t have binoculars?  There are a limited number of binoculars available at the park store that can be borrowed for the program.  Due to the popularity of the summer bird walks, they are continuing in the Fall on the second Wednesday of the month.  In October, the program will be on Oct 10, 2018.  In November, the program will be on November 14, 2018 and in December the program will be on December 12, 2018. This program is free with regular park admission. 

Guided Plant Strolls

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and Master Gardener Bill Kuenstler on September 17, 2018 from 9:00a.m. – 11:00a.m for a guided plant stroll. Take a stroll through the park and the campground to explore the plants visible and to see what is in bloom. Due to the popularity of this program during the summer, it will continue this Fall on the third Monday of the month. In October, the program will be on Oct 15, 2018. In November, the program will be on November 19, 2018 and in December the program will be on December 17, 2018. This program is free with regular park admission. 

Weekly Ranger Program moves to a new day for the Fall

Starting on September 9, 2018, join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park every Sunday in September, October, November and December at 9:00a.m. for a Sunday Funday weekly Ranger program.  While the day of the week has changed for these programs, the fun you will have learning new things about the park plants, animals and cultural history has not. The topic each week will vary depending on the Ranger leading the program. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water bottle, sunscreen and hat as most programs will have you exploring the park and occur rain or shine. Program is free with regular park admission. 

Topsail Presents: “Plastic Pollution, You’re the Solution”

A PART OF TOPSAIL TALKS: AN EDUCATIONAL DISCOVERY SERIES

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and Dr. Laura Tiu, a Florida Sea Grant agent, to celebrate Microplastic Awareness month on September 21, 2018 from 10:00a.m. – 11:00a.m. Come learn about microplastics, what they are, plastic pollution in the Gulf of Mexico and the ocean and what you can do to help. This program is free with regular park admission. 

Topsail Talks is a monthly educational discovery series with presentations from organizations and government agencies from outside the park on the third Friday of the month at 10am in the clubhouse.  Future dates and topics are “Coastal Dune Lakes” by the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance on October 19, “Pirates, the Scourge of the Gulf” by the Florida Public Archaeology Network on November 16, “Coyotes” by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on December 21 and “Marine Animals” by the Gulfarium on January 18, 2019.
