The Green Thumb Garden Club’s (GTGC) 2023-24 year is kicking off with a full program at their September meeting. The September meeting is very popular for returning members to reconnect and share stories about their adventures over the long, hot summer as well as welcome new members. Attendees can sign up for committees and learn about the exciting programs planned for the year including the scholarship awards and the charities the Club will support through the generosity of its members and fundraising events. A craft making session is also planned.
The meeting is scheduled for September 20, 2023; the location is Westwinds at Sandestin Conference Center, 4700 Westwinds Drive, Miramar Beach, FL. Doors open at 9:00 am and the meeting begins at 9:30 am, concluding with lunch. The cost is $30.00 per person.
Numerous Walton County organizations receive donations from GTGC. Among them are Eden Gardens State Park, Habitat for Humanity, Walton County Sheriff’s Office Santa Patrol, John Horton Senior Center, Legion Park Garden, and Caring & Sharing. The Junior Gardeners program at Butler Elementary School will continue in 2023-24 as well as tuition scholarship awards to college students majoring in horticulture, 4H Camp Timpoochee and the Naturalist Outdoor program at E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center.
Floral design instruction, the third annual Holiday Bazaar fundraiser at Cantina Laredo Grand Boulevard in November and an Earth Day program in April are slated in the upcoming year. Additional program and event information will be shared at the September meeting.
The Green Thumb Garden Club welcomes new members.
