Several students in Walton County were selected by audition to participate in the Florida Music Educator’s Association All-State performing ensembles on January 7-12, 2019, in Tampa, Florida.  This event is held as part of the FMEA Annual Professional Development Conference, and highlights the top music students in the state! Congratulations to Chloe Appel, 5th grade student at West DeFuniak Elementary, for being selected by audition to represent Walton County School District as a member of the Florida Music Educators Association Elementary All State Chorus!

Congratulations goes out to Lillian Anderson, 8th grader at Freeport Middle School; Emma Knauer, 8th grader at Emerald Coast Middle School; and Tayten Lehman, 8th grader at Paxton School, for being selected to represent WCSD as members of the Middle School Honors Band. Congratulations are also extended to Alyvia Fleury, Freeport High School 10th grader; Michela Gray, South Walton High School Senior; and Riley Hughson, 9th grader at Paxton School, for being selected as members of the High School Honors Band. WCSD wish all these students the best as they pursue their musical talents at these high levels!

Walton County School District Superintendent of Schools, A. Russell Hughes, wishes to extend his most heartfelt wishes for a very meaningful and blessed holiday season for all! As our area begins to pick up the pieces following Hurricane Michael, it is so important for us to remember the true meaning of giving, and the impact it can have on others.
