DIGITAL GRAFFITI FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2017 FINALISTS, TICKET SALES
The projection art festival will feature original digital artworks from artists around the world on May 19-21, 2017
Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach, a projection art festival located on Scenic Highway 30A in Northwest Florida’s South Walton County, is proud to announce the finalists for the 2017 festival to be held May 19-21, as well as the launch of ticket sales. Twenty finalists along with three artist-in-residence participants from four countries will gather at Alys Beach to showcase their digital artwork and vie for cash prizes totaling $10,000.
“Celebrating our 10th year, Digital Graffiti 2017 marks a deeper relationship between art and architecture,” says Brett Phares, Digital Graffiti Curator. “Our shortlist of artists is more established, more virtuosic, and more vivid. Additionally, our new partnership with Christie Digital will make it an experience you won’t want to miss!”
Additionally, a select group of artists have been invited to participate in the Digital Graffiti Visiting Artist Series, scheduled for May 10-17, a week prior to the festival. The three featured artists include Jinku Kim, Curator’s Choice winner in 2016 from Cranston, Rhode Island; Krystal Schultheiss, festival finalist in 2015 from Melbourne, Australia; and Robert Seidel, winner of Best in Show at Digital Graffiti’s inaugural year as well as a former finalist and judge from Berlin, Germany.
A panel of art and industry experts, led by Brett Phares, will serve as the jury for the festival and select works for the Best in Show and Curator’s Choice awards. Three honorable mentions will also be awarded.
Celebrating its 10th year, Digital Graffiti gives artists a large-scale blank canvas to explore the intersection of art and architecture, while creating entirely new art forms. Once darkness falls, the iconic stark-white walls of Alys Beach glow with dozens of dazzling original art projections.
