End Polio Now Day

The Rotary Club of South Walton is holding their annual Purple Pinky Day to End Polio, hosted by The Donut Hole on Friday, October 24, from 7-9 a.m. at the Santa Rosa Beach location at 6745 US Highway 98.

According to Rotary International, polio eradication will be one of history’s greatest public health achievements, with polio possibly following smallpox to become only the second human disease eradicated from the world. However, if all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.

End Polio Now

Rotary needs additional funding to immunize more than 400 million children against polio every year, and to hire 150,000 health workers to find every child.  Once vaccinated, children have their pinky fingers dipped in a purple dye, hence the name Purple Pinky Day. Together, we can end polio.

Rotarians in South Walton ask that you preorder a dozen by calling Tara Nettles at (850) 855-7208 or pick up a box of donuts on Friday, October 24, from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Donut Hole.
