The money will support their programs well into 2024. Foundation grants are focused on education, food insecurity, senior citizen support and child advocacy, as well as grants focused on environmental conservation and protection.

One of the FPL grants for Children in Crisis in Fort Walton Beach is for operational costs to staff and operate The Children’s Neighborhood, a residential-style foster care neighborhood of homes, complete with a food pantry, therapy center, playground, and recreation center, as well as for other amenities to support the physical and emotional well-being of the children.   Another nonprofit, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, was awarded a grant that Mickey Hawkins, president of the Fort Walton Beach Chapter, said grant is timely and greatly needed.
