Over 175 walkers and runners laced up and “put on their pink” at Fore Her’s Pink Walk & 5K, presented by Emerald Coast Hospice on January 27th at The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Over $14,000 in funds was raised to support breast cancer patients along the Emerald Coast.

The Pink Walk and 5k, in its second year, is a celebration of breast cancer survivors along with their families and friends who want to do something significant to show their support and admiration. The walk benefits Fore Her, a nonprofit organization offering financial assistance, resources, hope, compassion and education to all who are affected by breast cancer.

“We were amazed by the turnout for our event, only in its second year,” says Amy Walsh, Fore Her Founder. “This level of support from not only the participants but the community as a whole shows that we can expect it to continue growing in strides…and what a testament to these strong and courageous women. With that said, we are so grateful to our sponsors and donors, and blessed to live in such a compassionate community.”

The annual Pink Walk & 5k is a timed race. All participants enjoyed an after-party with breakfast compliments of Ruby Slipper, music by Diamond DJ, cold-pressed juices by Formula Fresh, chair massages from Serenity by the Sea, sweet treats from Charlie’s doughnuts and a commemorative medal.

Breast cancer survivors had the opportunity to participate in a Survivors’ Stroll free of charge and also received a discounted entry fee to the 5K. The Survivors Lounge, sponsored by Rum Runners, was open for survivors to enjoy hand massages, party favors and free tee shirts.

“Participating in Fore Her events year after year has made such an impact in my life and being active and included in these events has taught me valuable things that I will cherish for a lifetime,” said breast cancer survivor LouAnne Coville.
