Green Thumb Garden Club (GTGC) members are going to be very busy with meetings and events as the organization kicks off 2024.
Wednesday, January 17, 2024, is the first member meeting of the year and the program is Floral Trends of Today. The program will be presented by Russ Barley, owner of Emerald Coast Flowers and Gifts and Mayor of Freeport, Florida. The meeting will be held at Westwinds Conference Center in Miramar Beach, Florida. Check-in time is 9:30 a.m., and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served and is included in the meeting registration fee of $30 (cash or check); $32 (credit card).
An Arbor Day celebration will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Legion Park, Miramar Beach, Florida. GTGC will plant a Mighty Live Oak, America’s National Tree. This tree has been called one of the most impressive in North America and can live to be hundreds of years old. GTGC is dedicating the tree to local resident Donna Johns for her outstanding, long-time service to our country and Walton County, Florida.
February’s meeting, to be held on February 21, 2024, will showcase the creative tablescaping skills of GTGC members in a friendly competition.
The February meeting is also at the Westwinds Conference Center in Miramar Beach, Florida. Details will be shared at the January meeting.
