Natural health with Dr Leesa: Fix the gut -heal the stress!
Hippocrates said “All disease begins in the gut” and research is now proving he was absolutely right.

You have probably seen a lot in the press lately about leaky gut. The health of one’s gut influences all aspects of one’s health. If you are dealing with bloating, allergies, thyroid issues, mood swings, even autoimmune issues you need to take a careful look at your core health, your gut.
How does the gut have an influence on mood? An imbalance in the gut can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression and poor sleep. Probiotic treatments (like the live bacteria in yogurt) have been shown to reduce cortisol, an important stress hormone, and decrease anxious and depressive behaviors.
Another indicator of gut health is energy level. When digestion is poor the body is working much harder to digest and use our foods. Sometimes it takes days! The most immediate result is a tired feeling after you eat but another issue a slowing of the metabolism and weight gain.
Chronic inflammation happens when we eat foods that our body cannot digest properly. So often we are not even aware of this process because you don’t have to be allergic to food for it to cause inflammation. If you have problems with your skin, arthritis, pain, asthma or allergies this might be you.
