The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) is asking for the community’s help in registering the automated external defibrillators (AEDs) located in public places across South Walton.

According to the American Heart Association, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year across the country. However, effective bystander first aid can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival.

The Fire District is asking community members who own or work in public places like  businesses, gyms, restaurants, and stores, as well as members of local churches and  community gathering spaces, to register their location’s AED by emailing their contact information and AED location to  cpr@swfd.org or use the free SWFD Smartphone App, select the  Community Resources feature, then complete the form “Register An AED.”
