Florida Master Gardener

After the summer hiatus, the traffic has calmed down and the Master Gardeners are ready to get out and about again; the organization will kickoff the Fall Season hosting a presentation about the Choctawhatchee Bay Estuary Program (CBEP) from its Executive Director, Brian Underwood on September 8, 2021.

The CBEP was established by an interlocal agreement among Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes and Washington Counties to address concerns about the Choctawhatchee Bay and its watersheds.  The mission of this organization is vital to everyone in the four-county area.   Mr. Underwood will provide us with the history of the Estuary Program which started in 2017. There are six focus areas which will be addressed through the drafting of a Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan over the next three years.

This informational lecture will be held at the UF/IFAS – Walton Coastal Extension Branch at 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.  This is open to the public and free of charge.  However, seating is limited, and reservations are required.  Call 850-892-8172 to save your place.  This program will also be offered via ZOOM.  Please send your email address to waltonctymg@gmail.com and you will receive the link on 9/6/21.

Light refreshments will be served, and Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to take gardening questions and help with soil samples. We look forward to seeing you!
