Level II NICU cares for infants from Walton, Okaloosa, and surrounding counties
The Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation announced today that the Emerald Ball raised approximately $159,131 benefiting Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The Foundation hosted the Emerald Ball at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa on Saturday, April 6. Guests enjoyed a curated dinner with filet and grouper, danced to Mr. Big and the Rhythm Sisters, and commemorated the experience with a photo booth. The black-tie event was presented by Howard Group, Grand Boulevard Sandestin Town Center and Silver Sands Premium Outlets.
“The Emerald Ball raised critical funds that will directly benefit every child and family relying on our community’s only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU),” said Adrienne Maygarden, President, Sacred Heart Foundation. “This special place of hope and healing is making a difference in the lives of our youngest, most vulnerable patients and will make kids better today and healthier tomorrow.”
Since becoming the only NICU in the tri-county area last year, the hospital has seen many families be transferred to their care so they can stay in the communities where they live. This includes babies that were at a higher level of NICU care but still needed to be hospitalized. In 2024, the NICU also expanded services and care teams are now capable of caring for babies as early as 10 weeks premature and weighing slightly under three pounds. The Family Birth Place is continually recognized nationally as a top maternity hospital.
