Five-Day Sessions for Primary, Elementary and Middle School-Age children
Offered in June and July
The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) announces the 2018 launch of its popular program for children, Creative Kids Camp, a series of week-long visual arts camp sessions designed to give primary, elementary and middle school-aged children a different daily hands-on experience.
Camp sessions are scheduled in June and July, Monday through Friday, with a different age group served each week. Primary sessions for ages 4-6 run June 4-8 and June 25-29 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Elementary sessions for ages 7-9 will run June 11-15 and July 9-13 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Middle school sessions for ages 10-13 will run June 18-22 and July 16-20 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Creative Kids Camps take place in the CAA’s Bayou Arts Center located at 105 Hogtown Bayou Lane in Santa Rosa Beach.
Returning this year is lead instructor and artist Molly Huffman who moved to Santa Rosa Beach from Louisville, Ky., where she spent three years as the Visual & Gallery Director at Revelry Boutique Gallery. With a degree in Non-Profit Leadership & Management, Huffman has experience focused on youth advocacy and community development. She was also a Montessori pre-school assistant teacher and has a strong background working with and on behalf of children. Huffman will teach the campers how to work with a variety of mediums and use various techniques so each student goes home with a diverse portfolio of work. Themes include Under the Sea, Animal Kingdom, Watercolor Wonders, Meet the Masters, Boats & Beaches, Crazy Colors, Fun with Felt and Portraits & Silhouettes. Additionally, each class will interact with a professional artist currently exhibiting at the CAA’s Foster Gallery in Grand Boulevard. Students will meet the artist, learn about his or her process, ask questions, and view their work up close.
Early bird pricing of $150 – $175 per child is available now for each five-day session, and space is limited. Prices will increase to $175-$200 per child two weeks in advance of each Creative Camp session. Multiple week discounts apply per child. All supplies are included. Daily and full week registration options available. Register online at www.culturalartsalliance.com.
Students should dress for a fun and messy art experience and should come to class with a peanut-free lunch and drink or water bottle. Snacks will be provided. Please call 850-622-5970 or email info@culturalartsalliance.com with any questions.
