Antiques on Holiday Celebrates Fifteen Years of Fine and Fun Antiques
Long time friends and European antiques dealers Ann Miller Hopkins and Misty Fowler built a two story, yellow building on North Holiday Road in Destin, about two miles west of the Silver Sands Outlet Mall. For fifteen years Ann and Misty hand- picked Belgium, French and Italian antiques on buying trips to fill the twelve thousand square foot store, then added other antiques dealers to have a greater balance of antique merchandise. The partners “tag teamed” to alternate travel and shop keeping. With spouses in tow, they each spent weeks at a time in Europe to select and import forty- foot containers of unique antique chandeliers, furniture, statues, architectural and garden elements. Currently six containers arrive at 105 N. Holiday Rd. each year. Container parties are not uncommon. You can email ann and Misty to be included. A customer commented “It’s like you’re bringing the world to us. Over the years, we have bought everything at Antiques on Holiday from Christmas ornaments and vintage clothing to a walnut table which seats twelve.”
Antiques on Holiday has become a source for vintage faux bois (French for false wood) benches and planters. Landscape architects and master gardeners travel to the Destin-Miramar shop open seven days a week to findthese concrete and stone European garden elements.
Designers depend on the ever-changing shop for European and local paintings as well as antique sets of Limoges china and fabulous glassware. Jewelry and silver are as unique as the furnishings available at Antiques on Holiday. Fabrics and upholstery are available on the second floor.
“Misty Fowler was the age of my daughters when we lost her this year,”Ann Hopkins said of her friend and partner.“Her circle of family, friends and clients here and abroad mourned the loss of a gifted, sweet-spirited lady.”
Antiques on Holiday continues to flourish with on-going buying trips. Customer service goes the second mile to facilitate shipping, loading and a good laugh from time to time.
