Howdy y’all! I just had the best experience at Arnett’s Gulfside, located off 393 South. It got me to thinking that maybe our locals aren’t aware of this hidden gem. For those of you who aren’t in the know, Arnett’s is the premier horse stable and trail ride operation of South Walton. The property is gorgeous, the horses are well-kept and friendly, and you’ll really feel like you’re back on the farm. From the chickens running about, to the boots and t-shirt selection in the boot shop and the famous Tack Room for live music, this place is sure to impress and offer something for everyone.
Arnett’s experienced trail bosses are available to take you and/or your group (ages 6 and up) on a guided horse ride through beautiful Point Washington State Forest. Along the way, your guide will point out interesting facts throughout the ride while your horse does all the hoofing. You’ll notice these horses are very well taken care of and love a good trail ride. Green to the saddle? Don’t fret. Arnett’s offers a crash course prior to every ride that will have you feeling like a serious cowpoke by the time you hit the trail.
Each trail ride is a full hour and runs 60 dollars. Private rides, single lessons, and lesson packages are available for cowboys and cowgirls of all ages, as well as pony rides for the kids. Arnett’s also does birthday parties in their screened in pavilion for a reasonable price which includes fun on the farm, a small bouncy house and pony rides for twelve children. Party blocks start at two hours. Moms…it’s hard to beat pony rides. Just sayin’. Don’t forget to call/email and ask about reserving the farm for your special day, festivals, camping, reunions, corporate events or in case you just feel like having your own Honky Tonk!
Speaking of Honky Tonks, put on your dancing boots, grab your date and check out the live music in the Tack Room every Friday night this summer. This rustic farmhouse bar and dance floor offers a unique environment with a relaxed feel and great live music. Beer and wine are available as well as delicious catered food options. Come ready to celebrate the 6th of July for the 30A Hit Songwriter House Concerts featuring Tim James. Doors open at 6:30pm and the music starts at 7. General Admission is FREE. Tall wagon-wheel table seating is $10-dollars at the door or call ahead for VIP access at only $25 bux. VIP includes preferred seating and two drink options.
