The Democratic Women’s Club of Walton County is honoring three of our club nominees for and winners of Florida Democratic Women’s Club awards.  The event will take place on Tuesday, September 19 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Cantina Laredo Restaurant’s meeting room on Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach. The cost is $25 for a meal and a nonalcoholic drink. Contact Sue Bowden, President of the Democratic Women’s Club of Walton County, at susanbowden4321@yahoo.com for information on how to sign up.

Our honorees are Mary Wolfe, past club president, of Watersound Beach, Sandra Macon of Defuniak Springs, and Evalyn Narramore of Pensacola. Evalyn is the 2023 winner of the state DWC’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors a member for extraordinary service to the club at the state and local levels. Sandra, who is also a veteran, has been one of the lead organizers of the Black History Parade and Juneteenth celebrations in Defuniak Springs for the past few years and is the winner of the state DWC’s Rising Star Award. Mary spearheaded our club’s efforts that eradicated $1,670,498 of medical debt in the Florida panhandle through the RIP program.

We also plan to have Walton County Supervisor of Elections Ryan Messer at our meeting, who will be educating us on the changes to Florida’s election laws in preparation for the 2024 elections.
