Our Fresh for the Summer Programs kicked off on June 1st across Okaloosa and Walton Counties. After four weeks of services, we have seen an 80% increase in demand over last year as inflation hits the families we serve especially hard. In response, we have increased our volunteers and food ordering to meet this demand.
There is still time for you to help!

The 2022-23 School Year is just around the corner. This will mark the 12th Year of services for Food For Thought Outreach. For the past 8 years we have kicked off our backpack program with the Annual Stock the Pantry Party. This friendly team competition, is our largest fundraising event of the school year and provides the funds and food to start our programs each year.
Food Drive and Fundraising Teams will have 8 weeks to collect food or funds in support our programs and results will be shared during our Stock the Pantry Party on August 25th. To learn more about the event visit www.fftfl.org/pages/stock-the-pantry-2022,
or to register your team email support@fftfl.org. In partnership with the Walton County School District and the St Joe Community Foundation, Food For Thought Outreach was proud to benefit from the first year of “Read to Feed”.
This program brings our mission to life with a focus on education and fighting food insecurity. The St Joe Community Foundation donated 25 cents for each AR test with a score of at least 80% from January – May. In total, students completed more than 185,000 AR tests, leading to a grant of $46,290!

The Full Circle Kitchen Summer Classes are in full swing. This summer we are honored to work with the following organizations Children in Crisis,  AMI Kids , The Youth Village, Okaloosa Youth Academy and Chautauqa Healthcare. Special Thanks to the Emeril Lagasse Foundation for fueling our Kitchen Programs.

How Does Fresh for the Summer Work?
This is a frequently asked question around the Food For Thought Pantry. We have FIVE locations across Walton and Okaloosa Counties where the families enrolled in our services meet us. We offer a morning and evening service so families have choices that support their work schedules. In some circumstances, we even deliver as transportation is the biggest obstacle between the family in need and a service. During the summer each family will get at least 50 food items per service and that includes at least 18 produce items. This summer we will have 8 weeks of services reaching 2,000 children in need.
