The Walton County Democratic Women’s Club will recognize Dr. Hillary Glenn, DNP and Dr Patsy Vargo, co-founders of The Point Washington Medical Clinic, as its Women of the Year, on Tuesday, September 27th. Since its founding, as a mission outreach program of the Point Washington Methodist Church, in May 2017, TPWMC has worked to build a stronger and healthier community by providing high quality primary health care regardless of the patients’ means or access.   Funded 100% through voluntary donations of money and time by doctors, nurses and various community members assisting with health education, translation and administrative tasks, the clinic serves patients of all ages, no questions asked.

TPWMC was on the scene of Hurricane Michael in 2018, rendering primary health care and making referrals through pop-up clinics in Panama City and Lynn Haven, as well as the clinic in Point Washington at the United Methodist Church.  When the COVID pandemic reached this area in early 2020, the clinic offered up free testing and vaccinations from its mobile van and continues to do this today.  It is also there for community events, such as the annual Songwriters Festival and the opening of the Monarch Butterfly Trail.

After 5 years of operation in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church, ground has been broken for a dedicated clinic building which will have 4 private consultation rooms and, in time, a children’s dental clinic.  All services of TPWMC are provided at no cost, including children’s school physicals.

The recognition event will be held at the Lake Club, 1850 Great Hammock Bend in Freeport with lunch at 11:30, followed by the award and a presentation by Dr. Glenn. For further information contact Sue Bowden at susanbowden4321@yahoo.com.
