Democratic Women’s Club of Walton County Hosts two Women Veterans

March is Women’s History Month, and you are invited to join the Democratic Women’s Club of Walton County to hear from two women Veterans who will speak to us about their service. The event will be held  Tuesday, March 29, 11:30 am-1:30 pm at the Sunset Bay Cafe in Sandestin.

Kayla Buck is a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserves who served in Germany, Kuwait and Iraq, and also stateside, continuing her education, and then attending Air Force Intelligence operations school. She served in the Air Force Reserves from 2000-2012, and worked as a contractor with the Air Force, in Iraq and at Hurlburt Field AFB.

Julie Jones is a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served one six-month deployment in the Mediterranean Sea and three six-month Persian Gulf deployments, as well as serving in several locations stateside. She attended Intelligence Specialist School, at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Command. (NMITC) She served in the Navy from 1988-2008, and also worked as a contractor at Langley AFB, Hurlburt Field AFB, and Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

Both women married, continued their education and managed to have children in spite of impressive and challenging careers and deployments across our country and the world.

The DWC of Walton County has a goal of attempting to understand and support the needs of our Veterans, Active Duty Military, and Reserve personnel in Walton County. The fee of 26 dollars includes lunch, dessert, a non-alcoholic drink, tax and tip. Donations of art supplies for the Joanne Birge Center, a rehabilitation center for addicted mothers in Defuniak Springs, will be gratefully accepted.
